Boots, rubber gloves, towels, drinks. *Fishing equipment will be provided by the Exploration Club.

Enjoy catching soft-shelled turtles and catfish in the Uda River, which flows through Uda, a region of satoyama. (However, as you are dealing with nature, we cannot guarantee a catch (^^)) The hunt will finish around 4pm, and you will then gather with your catch at Nanooto, an old-style inn where you can enjoy herbal tea. Your guide, who is well versed in the nature and history of Ouda, will tell you a fun and interesting story about Uda. After the fun talk, you will have the opportunity to sample soft-shelled turtles (prepared by a professional dim sum cooking instructor).

*Both soft-shelled turtles and catfish are often treated as pests in the river, but in the food world they are highly prized as luxury ingredients. We are working to make these fish a new specialty of Uda.
